Location
i54 has a prominent frontage to the M54 motorway
close to junction 2 and is located off the main A449. The
site is easily accessible via the M54 (junction 2), M6 and
M6 Toll Road and primary road infrastructure.
Accessibility
Infrastructure improvements to facilitate development
are to be carried out as follows:-
- Road –
Highway Authority approvals have been obtained for all required
highway improvements in and around the site including junction
2 of the M54 motorway with direct access to be provided
via a new motorway junction to be constructed. This is required
prior to phase II of the development being occupied.
- Cycling
and pedestrians – Provision of new
footpaths and cycle-ways across the site to link with local
walkways and cycle ways. All off site highway junction improvements
will include improved crossing facilities for pedestrians
and cyclists, thereby providing enhanced safer links from
surrounding residential communities.
- Canal –
The Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal towpath is being
upgraded.
- Public transport –
Discussions with local transport authorities and CENTRO,
have identified several public transport routes that could
be improved as the development proceeds with financial contributions
from the development. The choice selected will be based
on maximising public transport access for the communities
that will provide the workforce on the i54 site.
